Good Shepherd Services : About Us

Good Shepherd Services is a private non-profit residential treatment facility located in Baltimore County, fifteen minutes from downtown Baltimore on a seventy acre wooded campus. Staffed by qualified multidisciplinary treatment teams, Good Shepherd provides treatment programs for adolescents ranging in age from thirteen to twenty-one years who are experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties of a psychiatric nature. The facility has residential, medical, clinical and educational facilities as well as a central dining room, library, gym, auditorium, tennis courts and other resource areas. The GSS is accredited by The Joint Commission and is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Good Shepherd School, located on the grounds of Good Shepherd Services, is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education as a non-public Type I residential and day Special Education Program, as well as a non-public Type I General Education Program for students in grades 8 through 12.

Good Shepherd Services’ Residential Treatment Program combines treatment, residential and educational services so that adolescents have a highly structured, consistent learning and living environment which supports their therapeutic programs. These services and programs are designed to cultivate a sense of achievement and an understanding of moral and ethical values; to encourage self-determination, problem solving, decision-making, and a sense of responsibility and service; as well as to strengthen interpersonal and family relationships.
