Good Shepherd Services Awarded $20,000 Grant from the Rite Aid Foundation – Good Shepherd Services

In February 2016, Good Shepherd Services was awarded a $20,000 grant from the Rite Aid Foundation as part of the Big Hearts Give Challenge. This challenge, which ran from October 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016, was designed to help KidCents charities raise awareness, grow their donor networks and earn additional funds for their organizations.

KidCents allows Rite Aid wellness+ Plenti customers to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar and donate their change to their charity of choice, with over 360 charities to choose from. The charities all have one thing in common: each are focused on the health and well-being of children. Good Shepherd Services became an official KidCents charity in March 2015.

As part of the challenge, KidCents charities would become eligible for grant funding with a minimum of 10 new designations. By the end of the challenge period, 378 people had enrolled and selected Good Shepherd Services. Good Shepherd exceeded its goal of 300 enrollments to receive the $20,000 and was one of seven organizations in Maryland to receive a grant.

The Rite Aid Foundation awarded 182 KidCents charities who participated in the Big Hearts Give Challenge with a total of $1,597,500 in donations.

“We are thrilled that the Rite Aid Foundation allowed us to participate in this program. Reaching this goal was a huge effort on behalf of friends, family and community members, to whom we are so thankful,” said Michele Wyman, President and CEO of Good Shepherd Services. “Good Shepherd is grateful to the Rite Aid Foundation for providing the funds necessary for us to continue offering therapeutic and educational services to Maryland’s youth.”
