Good Shepherd Services : Our Programs : Occupational Preparation Program
Good Shepherd School’s Occupational Preparation Program is individualized, market-based and employs a wraparound approach. Each student is assessed for specific strengths, interests and needs. With the help of an educator and a therapist, a specific program is created to provide the student with the skills necessary to be successful in the workplace and the community.
The Occupational Preparation Program imparts immediately employable skills to it’s students. Beginning with vocational interest inventories, the Casey Life Skills Inventory, and interviews with educators and clinicians, students develop career tracks that are respectful of both their abilities and marketplace demands. Individualized plans are then crafted and implemented to assist students with acquiring the skills or education necessary to achieve their goals. Examples of some career preparation programs that Good Shepherd School offers are online college courses, student-community networking events with business and government leaders, and on-site internships.
