Special Invitation from the CEO – Good Shepherd Services

Dear Friends,

As you know, Good Shepherd Services’ mission—LOVE IN ACTION—is predicated upon a caring and respectful environment which empowers the young people we serve to reach their maximum potential. With the children as our primary focus, we have embarked on an exciting one-year journey of resilience, to be kicked off at this year’s annual gala celebration. We are fortunate to be taking this journey accompanied by the HobbleJog Bear!

The HobbleJog Foundation, a newly-formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded by Susan M. Hahn, one of Good Shepherd Services’ longtime “extraordinary relationships.” Following a life-threatening accident, Susan embarked upon a life-changing journey on her long road to recovery. Moving forward, one step at a time, this triathlon athlete came to embrace her “hobblejog”—sort of a hobble and a jog combined—and discovered that, as long as she kept moving forward, she could cross the finish line.

With a mission of helping young people achieve their goals despite any obstacle—physical, mental, emotional or otherwise—the HobbleJog Foundation has selected Good Shepherd Services to be the recipient of its first fundraising effort and its first partner in building resiliency champions.

At our November 3 gala, we will be officially kicking off this exciting one-year effort—including filmed participation by many of our Good Shepherd young people beginning their own resilience journey step-by-step. Partnering with our staff, Susan has met with all of our youth. She shared her story, challenged them to find their inner strengths and relate to the HobbleJog mission, while learning how a bear came to be the mascot of the HobbleJog Foundation.

Come hear Susan’s story, see our Good Shepherd youth as they embark on their resilience journeys and hear the inspiring story of the HobbleJog mascot.

Toward the end of the evening’s event, Susan and I will be on-hand to personally greet our guests and welcome each of you to join our yearlong journey. I truly hope you will join us for an inspiring evening focused on our Good Shepherd Services youth and learn how they, too, can HobbleJog to reach their own personal finish line.

I can hardly wait to see you on November 3!
